Yaamini Venkataraman, Communications Strategist
Yaamini Venkataraman is a General Biology and Environmental Systems: Environmental Policy double major at the University of California, San Diego. She has received two Research Experience for Undergraduate grants from the National Science Foundation, which allowed her to study environmental science on Catalina Island and at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. Currently, she researches the effects of ocean acidification on eelgrass habitats as part of the Taylor Lab at the Scripps Institution for Oceanography. Yaamini is also heavily involved with science communication. She serves as the Executive Editor of Saltman Quarterly, the Division of Biological Sciences’ undergraduate research journal. Previously, she was the Head Production Editor, blogger and photographer. In her spare time, Yaamini enjoys photography, cooking and spending time with her residents as a House Advisor at Muir College.
