Margaret Mayfield is currently a postdoctoral
fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her
research focuses on the ways humans impact native plant communities
and how native plant and insect communities can be incorporated
into agricultural landscapes both for conservation and to
provide economically beneficial services to farmers. Margaret
works with a diversity of plant communities but for the past
7 years her research efforts have focused primarily on plants
in the Neotropics. Most of Margaret's research has taken
place in the fragmented forests of southern Costa Rica, but
she also has experience with plant conservation in Ecuador,
Bolivia and Brazil.
