Joshua Madin received his Ph.D. at James Cook University
in the Great Barrier Reef region of tropical Queensland,
Australia. Although his research focuses primarily
on coral reefs, Joshua’s travels and research in many
tropical areas of the world have instilled within him an
appreciation for the importance of tropical forests and their
implicit connections with coral reef systems. Joshua
has strong quantitative and statistical skills which he uses
in an effort to forecast the role of physical disturbances
on ecological communities. He is particularly interested
in climate change and in understanding how possible increases
in the frequency and magnitude of tropical storms, such as
hurricanes, might influence natural systems in the future.
