Joan Roney has been an Environmental Activist
and a Queer Rights Advocate for many years. She is the founder
of Dogwalking for Rainforests/Petsitters for Nonprofits Collective,
a petservice collective that hires only activists, artists
and nonprofit interns to care for pets and give 30% of their
profits to small nonprofits.
Before that Joan was NE Coordinator and Development Director
for Rainforest Relief for several years. She has worked with
Times Up, More Gardens, The Activism Center at Wetlands Preserve,
NYC's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and NYC's Dept. of Environmental
Protection to name a few. In Montreal, December 2005 Joan raised
money and contacted media for the Rainforest Pageant at the
United Nations Climate Change Convention. She holds a MA in
Environmental Conservation Education and a BA in Economics
both from NYU. Joan has written two novels for which she is
looking for homes and published several short stories.
