Elsa
Cleland received her PhD from Stanford University and
is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the National
Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis in Santa
Barbara, California. She studies the response of
plant communities and ecosystems to global environmental
changes, such as climate change, nitrogen deposition, elevated
CO2, and invasive species. She is also developing strategies
for restoration of native plant communities in the context
of present and future environmental changes. Her research
has brought her to diverse ecosystems, from Artic tundra
to Kenyan rainforests.
