Devorah Ancel

Devorah is an attorney for the Sierra Club where she coordinates the organization’s litigation docket, evaluating and recommending potential lawsuits addressing a range of environmental issues including climate change mitigation, public lands conservation and endangered species protection. Devorah earned her law degree from Vermont Law School and a masters of environmental management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. She focused her graduate studies on climate change and water law, policy and science. Devorah served as a staff editor for the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law and a staff member for the Yale/CERES Sustainable Governance Forum training corporate CEOs and board members about the risks and opportunities related to climate change. Devorah represented Yale at the conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol in Nairobi, Kenya in 2006. In 2007, she led the Yale delegation partnership with TFG to advocate for reduced emissions from deforestation in developing countries at the UN negotiations in Bali, Indonesia. Prior to graduate school, Devorah managed the watershed education programs of Save The Bay in San Francisco and was a grant writer for the Sierra Club’s national conservation campaigns. Devorah holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Washington University in St. Louis.
