Eben Goodale is interested in the connection between behavior, community ecology and conservation. He has worked in Sri Lanka for 14 years, studying the behavior of birds and interactions between species in mixed-species flocks. His Ph.D. research at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and postdoctoral work has been funded by the National Science Foundation. Recent studies in Sri Lanka, India and Papua New Guinea investigate how flocks respond to land-use changes, and emphasize community interaction and education. He is looking forward to a more settled life in San Diego, with his wife Uromi and an as-yet-to-be-found dog.
